Refunds & Returns

Returns and refunds.

Description

A return is a record, not a cash drawer adjustment.

Take goods back, refund the money, and keep the return attached to its original sale and shift. The refund is in the day's figures and the cash book, so the drawer still reconciles at closing.

Why it matters

The problem it removes.

A return handled outside the till disappears from the day's figures and from the drawer.

Who it fits

For any business that takes goods back and refunds the money.

How it works

Three steps, in the same system.

Set it up once; the work then follows the normal flow of the business.

Find the sale

1/3

The return starts from the original sale, not from a new transaction.

Refund the money

2/3

The refund is paid and stays attached to the original sale and its shift.

Keep the day right

3/3

The refund is in the day's figures and the cash book, so the drawer still reconciles at closing.
